Step Four: Prepare
- With steps 1-3 completed you should:
- Understand your goals, needs, and abilities
- Have a clear understanding of your options
- Have a good idea of what solution you wish to pursue for your needs
- Now you need to prepare
- Consult some professionals
- Get legal advice on preparing for aging issues
- Get a list of social workers who refer to the agency you want to use
- Contact them and get their opinion/advice
- Discuss your plans with your family
- remember, these changes are shifts in the entire family system
- Make a "plan A" and a "Plan B"
- Make a detailed plan of how you will supplement the aging solution into your life
- Determine how you will prepare for moderate changes in your everyday lifestyle
- Be prepared with a backup plan
- 1 month into service you may find that the agency is not right for you
- have another agency ready for an intake assessment...
Preparing for a life change is not to be taken lightly, planning is critical...
